On October 20, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) determined as a result of an anti-dumping investigation that Welded Large Diameter Carbon and Alloy Steel Line Pipes exported from Japan have caused injury to the domestic steel industry in Canada.

During the anti-dumping investigation by CITT, the Japanese steel industry stated that exports of Welded Large Diameter Carbon and Alloy Steel Line Pipes from Japan have caused no injury to the domestic steel industry in Canada.

We believe that it is inappropriate and very regrettable that CITT has rejected our statements, concluded that Welded Large Diameter Carbon and Alloy Steel Line Pipes exported from Japan have caused injury to the domestic steel industry in Canada, and decided to impose an anti-dumping measure.

According to this decision, certain products have been excluded from the scope of the anti-dumping measure. Although the adverse impact of the measures on the steel user industries in Canada would be mitigated to some extent, there are negative impacts on the steel user industries in Canada that import products other than those excluded products.

The Japanese steel industry will carefully study this decision and determine a proper course of action.
