Regarding the final determination for Australia’s steel section Anti-dumping Investigation
November 20,2014
Eiji Hayashida
Chairman
The Japan Iron and Steel Federation
On October 20, the government of Australia decided to implement anti-dumping measures for Hot rolled structural steel sections imported from Japan.
During the anti-dumping investigation by the government, the Japanese steel industry stated that exports of hot rolled structural steel sections from Japan have caused no injury to the domestic industry in Australia.
We believe that it is inappropriate and regrettable that the government has rejected our statements, concluded that the domestic industry in Australia has been injured by imports of hot rolled structural steel sections from Japan, and decided to enact the anti-dumping measures.
The Japanese steel industry will carefully study this decision and, after holding discussions with Japanese government, determine a proper course of action.
