Regarding the final determination for Australia’s Quenched and Tempered Steel Plate Anti-dumping Investigation

November 6,2014

On November 5, the government of Australia determined as a result of an anti-dumping investigation that the domestic steel industry in Australia has been materially injured by imports of Quenched and Tempered Steel Plate from Japan.

During the anti-dumping investigation by the government, the Japanese steel industry stated that imports of Quenched and Tempered Steel Plate from Japan have caused no injury to the domestic industry in Australia.

We believe that it is unjust and extremely regrettable that the government has rejected our statements, concluded that the domestic industry in Australia has been injured by imports of Quenched and Tempered Steel Plate from Japan, and decided to enact the anti-dumping measures.

The Japanese steel industry will carefully study this decision and, after holding discussions with Japanese government, determine a proper course of action.
