Regarding the Indonesia Cold-rolled Coils/Sheets Anti-Dumping Investigation and Final Determination by the Indonesia Anti-Dumping Committee(KADI)

The Indonesia Anti-Dumping Committee (KADI) has made a final determination that “there has been injury by dumped imports” regarding cold-rolled coils/sheets from Japan. KADI recommended the Indonesia Minister of Commerce to take anti-dumping measures.

In the anti-dumping investigation, the Japanese steel industry repeatedly stated that exports of Japanese cold-rolled coils/sheets have caused no injury to the domestic industry in Indonesia, and that KADI should reach a fair decision based on WTO rules. We believe that it is unjust and extremely regrettable that KADI has ignored our statements and reached the determination that there has been injury.

Cold-rolled steel coils/sheets from Japan are clearly vital to Indonesia’s automobile industry and other steel-consuming industries in Indonesia. If anti-dumping measures are taken, we believe there would be an enormous negative impact on the Indonesian economy.

We understand that the Government of Indonesia will perform the final study of KADI’s recommendation in order to decide whether or not to take anti-dumping measures.  As part of this study, we strongly urge the Indonesian Government to listen to the opinions of the automobile and other industries in Indonesia, and decide not to take any anti-dumping measures from the standpoint of the public interest.
