Chairman's Comments

Regarding the final determination for anti-dumping investigation for cold-rolled coils of iron or non-alloy steel of width more than 1300mm in Malaysia.

December 24,2019

Chairman

On December 24, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia determined as a result of an anti-dumping investigation that cold-rolled coils of iron or non-alloy steel of width more than 1300mm exported from Japan caused the injury to the domestic steel industry in Malaysia.

During the anti-dumping investigation by the government of Malaysia, the Japanese steel industry stated that exports of the cold-rolled coils from Japan caused no injury to the domestic steel industry in Malaysia.

Although certain products have been excluded from the scope of the anti-dumping measures, we believe that it is inappropriate and regrettable that the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia has concluded that the domestic industry in Malaysia has been injured by imports of the cold-rolled coils from Japan.

The Japanese steel industry will carefully study this decision and determine a proper course of action.
