The Japan Iron and Steel
Federation Standard ( JFS Standard )

<News> New Amendments are publishing in November 2016

The Japan Iron and Steel Federation is pleased to announce the publication of the new Amendments of JFS Standards.  This time, the five Standards are revised.  Please refer detail in the Recent revisions shown below.  Users of the JFS Standards shall apply these Amendments together with the 2014 edition of JFS Standards.

1. Preface
The first editions of JFS Standards were established in 1996 by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation.  Since then, JFS Standards have been widely applied in the field of steels for manufacturing automobiles.

At the time of establishment, JFS Standards consisted of seven product standards and two test standards.  In the latest revision, one product standard and two test standards were withdrawn as of August 2014.  Currently JFS Standards consisted of six standards for steel product.

In the product standards, the requirements on steel sheets for automobile use, such as the mechanical properties, the dimensional tolerances, and the information at the time of ordering, are specified.  They also specify the requirements on the zinc coated steel sheets for automobile use, such as the coating mass and the chemical treatments.

The English versions of JFS Standards are available.  We are pleased to receive your order.

2. Recent revision
As of November 2nd 2016, the Amendments for five product standards, indicated with “*” in the list below, are publishing. Major revisions in the Amendments are as follows;

1) Tolerance of product thickness: Formerly the tolerance values were sometimes specified in two decimal places. In this revision,all
       values for thickness tolerance were specified in three decimal places.
2) Delete of rounding requirement: According to the revision in 1), the rounding requirement was deleted since no need to round in two

       decimal places.
